Book Weeding

More Books for Sale

Here at the library we’ve been doing some book weeding, primarily in the children’s room, to free space and keep the shelves more current and exciting. Don’t panic; your favorite book isn’t missing! We have only removed duplicate copies of books, which, in many cases, had never been checked out at all (so come in and take out the remaining copy of these favorites!). The weeded copies have now moved to our book sale, which is a “name your price” donation. Many of you peek at our book sale in the hallway as you come in, which has tables and shelves for adult fiction and nonfiction, as well as children’s books. However, far fewer of you make it into the front hall of the old part of the building, which contains the rest of the book sale. This is accessible from the door between the coffee table and the start of the DVD collection (there’s even a “Book Sale” sign above the door!). The door is kept closed simply for heating purposes, but anyone is more than welcome to open it up for a while, slide the doorstop in and browse to one’s heart’s content.

Here’s a sampling of the new editions to the book sale from our children’s collection weeding. Simply due to space constraints out front, these are all in the book sale room. So, if you want to snag on of these great reads, you’ll have to explore in there!

  • Multiple Hardy Boys books (1960s’ editions)
  • Multiple American Girl Dolls books from their first print run (Samantha, Kirsten, Molly)
  • Multiple books from the Secrets of Droon series
  • Animorphs and Goosebumps books
  • E.B. White favorites – The Trumpet of the Swan, Charlotte’s Web, Stuart Little
  • Judy Blume and Beverley Cleary galore featuring beloved characters like Ramona, Fudge and Ralph the Mouse
  • Multiple books from the Anne of Green Gables series
  • Multiple “Little House” books by Laura Ingalls Wilder

Come take a peek at these books and more!
